Beach, Birthday, and the Bitches: Boracay Island

I was in state of excitement for more than a month. I couldn’t wait for these days to come since I would spend another trip to one of the best beaches in Philippines Asia- Boracay! Who else wouldn’t be much thrilled to set foot on the white sand of the island?

The plan went out differently. I had this original plan to spend the beach trip on February with my friend Hamill and her girl friends but due to some technical errors on the airline site, I couldn’t get the schedule myself. So, Kurt suggested to just book the flight on March 8 to 11 since my birthday is on the 10th. Wow! Much better idea than what I suggested. After looking if there were available cheap air fares for that dates, I convinced my friends to join us…and they said YES! Awesome!

The day of enthusiasm came. We arrived at NAIA terminal 3 at 9:00 in the morning since our flight to Kalibo was 11:00am. We couldn’t hide the happiness just like little kids! Actually, it was my second time to step back in Boracay. The first one was last year in July. But, I still had the same feeling just like it was my first. I don’t know but Boracay is Boracay!

Our flight from Kalibo to Boracay was little bit tiring. The flight by AirPhil Express was delayed for about 1 hour at the airport so we arrived at 3:00 in the afternoon. We took the van that leaded us to Jetty Port. The fare is P250 which includes the fare for the pump boat. Upon entrance, there were fee for terminal and environmental. I summed it all for P175 only.

The boat took about 10 minutes until we reached Boracay Island. The travel time didn’t end there; we took tricycle to reach our inn at Station 2. We found this cute little place near D’Mall and SummerPlace called Casa Rayluz. We booked that place a month ago that’s why we had a little discount from the owner. We just paid P1400+ each for our 4 days and 3 nights stay in the island. What a great deal!

Since we were just group of six, we didn’t make any activities and decided to wait for others to come from the next day. Our first night was just meant for eating, strolling, spending a little time for bar hopping and taking rest. That’s was it!

The next day, we woke up as early as 6:30 in the morning. Kurt, Rona, DJ, and I ate our breakfast at Starbucks since we were all craving for hot beverage. The weather wasn’t that fine. There were small amount of rain showers and the sky was cloudy. But we didn’t let the gloomy day ruined our entire mood. Good thing, the sun shined nearly 9:00am and was our call time. We hit the beach right after and showed off our body on bikinis and shorts!

I was really excited when the night came because midnight for was my birthday! We first had our dinner at D’ Talipapa at station 3. I came there once and I couldn’t forget the food! We had shrimps, fish, and crabs! Seafood feast it was!

The 12-midnight-clock came and they all greeted me a “Happy Birthday Herl” messages. Wow! I was really touched and feel really blessed because I had my 25th birthday in Boracay with my friends and boyfriend I really love. I couldn’t remember my wish because the moment was random and fast forward. We hit the bar right after we drank the bottle of Bacardi Jethro gave to me as present.

Sunday. Sunday was really sunny and alive. The weather was really meant for summer! We had our activities; island hopping, snorkelling and banana boat. We rented the boat for 1,900 for 10pax + P50 for each mask we used for snorkelling. How could I forget the Puka beach? The water is crytal blue, the sand is white but not as powdery as Boracay and the place is still underdeveloped. Since we were all hungry, we tried the pancit which cost P200 per plate. It was disappointing; the serving was small and pricey.

Sunset in Boracay is awesome! After the banana boat ride, we spent time on the shore and Jonah’s shake again. The sunset was perfect and we couldn’t let it passed without pictures, of course!

Since it was our last night in the island, we feel tired and we didn’t have energies to make other activities. We just had our dinner at Yellow cab and watched the flaming fire dancers. We slept early because the next day we would leave Boracay to go back to Manila.

The whole trip was a blast! I enjoyed the trip, the sun, the shore, the sand, different people we mingled with and of course, the company of my good vibes friends. I really enjoyed every second we spent on the island. I felt the relaxation and luxury of spending time without thinking of stress and exhaustion from work and life. I would surely go back to Boracay and would still have the same feeling all over again. Thank you Ice, Recca, Andy, Rona, DJ, Thea, Ana, Jethro for making each other happy! And of course, to my boyfriend Kurt who made me happier. No one could ever measure the feeling I had! It was such an awesome experience again!

Thank you Boracay Island, see you again sometime in summer!
